ISDN Bridges and Routers: Ready for Central-Site Service?

When it comes to branch offices and telecommuting, ISDN bridges and routers are ready, willing, and able. It's not hard to find a box that can fill a few B channels—enough capacity to allow a handful of users to run e-mail or send small files. But net managers who want to take ISDN to the next level, with hundreds or thousands of remote users running big-bandwidth applications, could be in for a sizable disappointment—or a major migraine. Bridges and routers with the requisite PRIs (primary-rate interfaces) are few and far between. Worse, most of the PRI products out there can't stand up to the stresses of the central site.
