Telecommunications companies and cable television operators are shedding the gloves. As deregulation advances (more quickly on some fronts than others) and markets begin to converge, the hearts and pocketbooks of potential customers around the globe will be up for grabs. That may not be a pleasing prospect for monopoly service providers, but competitors looking for new customers are happy to let the market determine the outcome.
