Back a few years, when the depression of 2008 was raging, stats showed that dealers were moving five used bikes for every new sale they made. No surprise: When people have less money, they spend less. At the time, the industry's idea of an "entry-level bike" was a $9,500-plus 6oocc sportbike. The newspapers were full of motorcycles, and I remember from another era the optimism and pleasure I felt in looking over each day's offering. What have we here? This was initially very attractive because, for a few hundred dollars, you could often take away something quite nice that just needed an understanding person to put a few things right. It was surprising to see how much price sacrifice owners would make rather than tackle minor crash damage or basic "get running" maladies.
