Texas is famous for barbecue, but surely this is taking things too far? Just outside the city of College Station, tens of thousands of people walk through flames every year, exposing themselves to temperatures high enough to melt steel. "If you were there unprotected, you'd be burned instantly," says Lee Hall.rnHall is a manager at Brayton Fire Training Field, where firefighters-in-training are grilled by giant barbecue-like contraptions called props. The props simulate real fires in burning homes, factories, and chemical plants. Hall teaches the trainees how to snuff out the flames and cope with the physical demands of the job.
