The EME Rovers Amateur Radio Club's N4EME FM13 GriDXpedition

In early May, the veteran team~1 of Paul Newcombe, N2EME, and Chuck Gress, K3NXH, converged on FM 13bx Kure Beach, North Carolina, to activate one of the most needed grids on the Atlantic Seaboard. Their well-equipped, two-band portable station (Photo A) consisted of an IC-7300 driving a Harris SSPA on transmit and, on receive, either a FCD with SDR Console V3~2 or the IC-7300. In eithercon-figuration, an ARR preamp was utilized in the receive path. The 50-MHz antenna was a seven-element LFA (loop-fed array). On 2 meters, the transmit lineup consisted of a TS-2000 driving a 1.5-kilowatt Larcan SSPA to four 12-ele-ment LFAs and, on receive, a FCD with SDR Console V3 with an ARR preamp completed the station.
