Estimation and Inspiration

In this issue our focus is on estimating, something very near and dear to my heart. I have focused the last 20 years of my career around estimating, the first 10 really being a realization and execution of the fact that I have always been a good estimator, the second 10 years in software development to create the best tools possible to do those estimates. For the first point, I am sure that anybody who knows me won't be a bit surprised that I have been an avid coin collector since I was 9-years-old. I kept track of my collection and its value on neatly written notes where I could figure out the current value, estimate what kind of investment it would take to complete my Lincoln Head penny collection (yes! I have the 1909-S VDB in AU50), and figure out how much it would increase in value over the years.
