A Critical Analysis of a Roof Dispute With an Emphasis on Project Management

This critical analysis used a case study methodology to set out and analyze the issues surrounding the partial collapse of the Standards Association of Zimbabwe's roof. In particular, it examined the roles played by the team of construction professionals in preventing and/or mitigating potential construction problems. The analysis also explored the process followed in dealing with the partial roof failure dispute, options preferred, the rationale behind decision-making, and the reasons for rejection of certain options. The importance of this study lay in its multidimensional approach to a construction problem. The objectives of this critical analysis were to identify key strategies to manage effectively and efficiently future construction projects while paying particular attention to the measures of project success of time, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Anglo-Saxon laws, from where Zimbabwe's laws are derived from, were used as a basis for this analysis.
