Over 40 members and guests attended the Aurora-Edmonton Section dinner meeting on Jan. 22, at the University of Alberta Faculty Club. The topic of the meeting was entitled, An open discussion on contingency management. The guest speaker, Peter Ripley, made a proposal on how contingency could be managed on reimbursable projects. During the presentation he reviewed the definitions for estimating allowance, contingency, management reserve, and risk event contingency (event driven risk). Lance Stephenson and Bill Kunkel reviewed Ripley's presentation from an owner's and contractor's perspective. The audience was invited to participate in the discussion which was moderated by Dr. Mohamed Al-Hussein.
