'tis The Season For Change

Fall is the season for change. In the US, our national and local politicians reminded us of the need for change what seemed to be every 10 minutes on the radio or television prior to the elections last month. Will change really happen; I guess we'll have to wait and see. On the other hand, if you are looking for change in AACE International, it has already started. The first change I am writing about concerns a change that doesn't happen very often. After the board of directors' meetings this past September, a change in the association's executive director took place. Although we are sad to see Jim Baxter leave, the board of directors is embracing this change with much enthusiasm for the future. As of this past October, AACE International announced the hiring of Mr. Andrew S. Dowd Jr., PSP, as its new executive director. Besides having a strong management background, Andy also has experience as the association's interim executive director for several months prior to the hiring of Jim Baxter. By the time you read this issue of Cost Engineering, Andy will be well entrenched in the management the association's business.
