Industry Standards And Aace International

Being a consultant for nearly my entire professional career, at least half of which has been in the claims and disputes area, I have learned that owners, contractors, and attorneys are interested in what the relevant 'Sndustry standard" is for any topic that isn't always clear cut. For instance, I recently spoke with an owners' representative construction manager (CM) who expressed his frustration with the quality of the time impact analysis (TIA) process that the prime contractor was using. The prime contractor was attempting to show that the owner was responsible for delay on the project. The CM didn't believe the technique that the contractor was using fully demonstrated the 'cause and effect' relationship of the owner's alleged actions and the resulting delay to the project.
