At the January Atlanta Section meeting, Steve Williams of US COST spoke on the topic of, "Web-Based Estimating." He demonstrated estimating software which is capable of being centralized through a web-based application, but flexible enough to be customized for individual locations and users. The software can also be individualized in order to optimize oversight, manage access, and prevent unauthorized use. Judging by the number of questions posed by the attendees, the presentation was both informative and extremely interesting. The Atlanta Section thanks Mr. Williams for an excellent presentation. Some 35 Chinook-Calgary members and guests enjoyed a roast beef dinner on Feb. 13 in the Riverview Room of the International Hotel. Following dinner, Section Vice President Tanveer Ahmed asked Past President Cindy Strickland to give details of the members-only Chinook-Calgary Social Night to be at the Jubilations Dinner Theater, on March 14. Mr. Ahmed then introduced. University of Calgary student Prabath Hemachandra (MSc.) who made a presentation on Simulated Earned Value Management Tool for Proactive Project Control. Using viewgraphs, he explained that management may use simulation during the planning stage to set up a baseline for a project.
