The Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Under construction at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA), the busiest passenger airport in the world (90,039,280 passengers served in 2008), is the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal. Named after the first African American mayor of Atlanta, the facility will serve international passengers with their own terminal, eliminating the need for them to access the remainder of the airport, unless they are connecting with domestic flights or renting a car. Thus, demand on existing facilities will be reduced by removing international passengers from the existing terminal and security checkpoints and subsequently, demand on the automated people mover (APM) trains will be reduced.
