Printing, coating and converting of electronics made a good showing at the January 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Polaroid lauched its PoGo instant camera with teeny built-in color Zink "sublimation" printer. Zink Paper is a composite material with cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded inside, and a protective polymer overcoat layer outside. The crystals are colorless before printing; heat from a Zink-enabled device (the Polaroid camera, or even cell phones) activates the crystals to form a color print. Also, Sony debuted its 11-in. XEL-1 TV with the picture panel replaced by a 3-mm-thick sandwich of printed organic light emitting diode (OLED) films.
