Proof-of-concept for hardware-assisted hypervisor technology for real-time virtualization platform

This white paper discusses how applications can benefit from hypervisor technology, explains how Kontron pre-integrates visualization technologies into its embedded hardware and provides an introduction to virtualization technologies. Hypervisor technology is not a completely new concept and is already well accepted for many application areas. However, when it comes to realtime applications, there have been no application-ready solutions available for large-scale field deployments. This is now changed due to the latest hardware-assisted virtualization technology, supported by Intel~® Virtualization Technology (Intel~® VT-x), which enables a new class of hypervisors such as the Hypervisor from Real-Time Systems (RTS).
