San Jose hosts solar tour, helps residents cut energy costs

San Jose, calif. -The City of San Jose hosted a solar home tour Oct. 1, 2011, to introduce residents to the products their solar savvy friends and neighbors are using to reduce their monthly energy bills. Tour participants learned about available incentives, different types of solar technologies on the market today and how much money they can save. This effort is part of the non-profit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour, the world's largest grassroots solar event. Last year's National Solar Tour attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. As one of the 25 designated Solar America Cities, the City of San Jose is partnered with several organizations to host this year's tour including: the U.S. Department of Energy, the ASES, local solar companies including Clean Solar, REC Solar, RPS Solar, and SunWize, and San Jose residents.
