Editor's blog: Give the HSE more resources

It's been another bad week lor fatalities in the construction industry both here and in Germany as our sobering front page picture caption shows. It's a warning, as if anyone needed one, that construction remains an. inherently dangerous industry to work in despite major advances in health and safety procedures and systems. It also clearly shows that even the very best of sites is not immune from accidents. BAA's T5 project is second to none in its commitment to health and safety and given the size, length and complexity of the scheme, its safety record has been extraordinarily good. But even with its enviable record, sadly, it has now had two fatalities on its books.
