Major infrastructure projects will be approved faster following the Royal Assent of the controversial Planning Bill. Ministers said the new Act would provide a quicker,more predictable and fairer planning system that could save the country ￡300m a year and accelerate renewable energy projects. The Act will create a new integrated planning system for major infrastructure that will make decisions in less than a year and give objectors three chances to be heard instead of one.
