Listening, cultural production and the politics of love - Alissar Chidiac in conversation with Justine Lloyd

Sydney-based community cultural development worker Alissar Chidiac works with diverse groups of artists, poets and performers. In this exchange, she describes how 'multiculturalism', as it has been enacted in Australian cultural institutions, has constrained the spaces for both speaking and listening to communities. She outlines how her own creative practice has moved towards creating spaces for 'listening differently' and away from previous efforts to take up an oppositional voice, or a position of resistance, within a dominant frame of understanding.
