Victor Hanson's Makers of Ancient Strategy follows the same publisher's well-known Makers of Modern Strategy in a search of historical legacies. Hanson's book is designed as a prequel to Edward Earle's classic from 1943, one of the founding texts of security studies, the original book massively updated by Peter Paret in 1986. Princeton University Press obviously believes in the formula. No doubt other permutations have already been commissioned.
