Several years ago, Bergelectric Corp., Escondido, Calif., began what its Executive Vice President Thomas R. Anderson refers to as a "Cultural Revolution" in safety. Thankfully, it was a successful (and bloodless) revolution, due in large part to the energetic support of Don Briscoe, Berg's president, whose vision was basically this: Make Berg's workers competent to perform their tasks safely; give them all the information they need to be responsible for their own safety; and hold them accountable for being safe in all their work every day.
