Construction concrete testing is generally viewed by design professionals as a necessary function that certifies strength, but is seldom seen as an integral part of the process that can expedite construction by enabling workers to move onto newly poured sections sooner. This article examines the practical application of automated concrete strength testing in the rebuilding of the Biloxi Bay Bridge following Hurricane Katrina, showing how it can expedite construction. Methodology for the testing, reporting, and analyzing of concrete daily is examined.
