Minneapolis bridge garners national honors

The I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has won two major national awards. The high-performance concrete structure, which crosses the Mississippi River, was the grand prize winner in the 2009 America's Transportation Awards, and a winner of a 2009 Excellence in Structural Engineering Award.rnFor the first award, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), American Automobile Association (AAA), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce selected the project from 50 entries based on ratings in the categories of'on time,' 'on budget,' and 'innovative management.'
