Mike Foy picks up his OBE for services to education

Mike Foy, CIOB trustee and senior committee member, was at Buckingham Palace last month to receive his OBE for services to education. Helping deliver the government's free school programme since 2012, Foy has spent most of his working life in local government but his roots are set firmly in construction. Ironically for an educationalist, he left school early and started as an apprentice joiner, taking his HNC through day release and night school and working in the sector until his early 30s.
