Output in the private non-housing repair and maintenance sector rose considerably during the course of 2007, with output almost 9% higher than one year earlier. Despite this, the sector is expected to suffer from the economic slowdown and PFI work on repair and maintenance is expected to be limited with health and education capital spending set to focus on new build.rnSector output grew 9% during 2007. However, it is important to note that this followed three years of no growth, and in fact output actually contracted between 2003 and 2006. Furthermore, sector output was boosted in 2007 as a result of the correction of a previous statistical mis-specification in the official data.As a consequence, the rise in output during 2007 does not represent a change in fortunes within the sector.
