The economic environment has altered substantially over the past 18 months and although economic slowdowns are a cyclical phenomena, the sharp rate of this decline has been unprecedented. Crisis in the financial markets has led to a slowing of economic activity and a sharp fall in credit availability. Recovery is dependent upon an upturn in credit markets in the private economy and government keeping to its many pronouncements of spending.
