Public housing in the last few years has been a priority for government and the sector has grown significantly recently. However, prospects in the new build sector are bleak due to its strong links with the private sector. As a consequence, the Association forecasts that the sector will endure a significant fall in output during 2009 and government's targets for public housing look unlikely to be met.
