Capital investment in the education sector has increased fourfold over the past 12 years. In the sharpest construction recession on record, education is one of the few sectors providing growth. The sector is expected to continue to grow over the next 12-15 months with three main programmes providing growth. Although these are long term programmes set to continue on past 2020 the state of the government's finances are likely to hinder prospects post-election and lead to significant cuts in spending.rnThis education sector includes construction output that is directly publicly funded (public non-housing) and output from PFI education (private commercial).
