A short summary of the history of the Frauenkirche in Dresden

The following deals with the history of one of the most important domed buildings, from the beginning of its construction, on to its completion, and up to its collapse after the devastating bombing raids on Dresden at the end of the Second World War. At the beginning of the year 1993, the work was started on clearing the rubble which had lain virtually untouched in the centre of Dresden for 48 years.
