Special issue on utilization of crumb rubber in asphalt mixtures

The application and the benefits of recycled scrap tire in civil engineering have been known for several decades. However, some recent developments of reuse, recovery and recycling of crumb rubber provide many efficient innovations in achieving an environmental sustainability. Especially, the utilization of rubberized mixes significantly results in enhancement in HMA mixtures while providing an economically effective and environmentally friendly material. This special issue is intended to collect some innovative technologies of using the recycled scrap tire in the pavement industry. Twelve (12) peer-reviewed articles were initiated by the organizing and scientific committees of the 1st International Conference on Recycled Rubber Products, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 2013. This conference provides a showcase of the unique ideas and novel developments in the application of recycled scrap tire in asphalt pavement and offers an opportunity to discuss and debate the future advances of this topic.
