Consensus forecasts for a number of variables have been downgraded this month, reflecting the growing expectation that activity will slow noticeably next year. In August, the consensus forecast pointed to the economy expanding by 2.4% in 2008; now, the consensus is only 1.9%, down from 2.1 % in November's survey.
