Canadian GDP posted a very strong 6.1 % q-o-q annualized growth rate in Q1, outstripping the US's 3.0% increase. Moreover, a look at the underlying figures suggests that Canada's recovery is probably the most entrenched and solid in the G-7, especially in light of recent financial market turmoil. For one thing, Canada is not facing the same sizeable fiscal crunch that other countries are dealing with. Not surprisingly, our panel's 2010 GDP forecast has soared this month to 3.5%.
