After last month's surge, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) retreated back below $80 a barrel due to signals from China that it will tighten policy to prevent economic growth from overheating. Beijing raised the reserve requirements of banks with immediate effect in an effort to restrict bank lending, which could have some impact on demand in the world's second largest oil importer.
