SIGNIFICANT CHANGES INTHE QUARTERLY CONSENSUS

This month, we compare Changes in Quarterly Forecast Trends for Consumer Price Inflation among the G-5 economies and the Euro zone. We have taken our panel's June 2011 quarterly consumer price inflation projections (available in full on pages 3,28 and 29) and contrasted them with those published in June and December 2010 (see charts, below). As these illustrate, latest quarterly inflation expectations have soared for the six economies shown. In the United States, consumer price increases are expected to accelerate sharply over the next few quarters on the back of soaring energy costs.
