West Texas Intermediate (WTI) has traded within a range of US$96.36 and US$100.91 per barrel over the past few weeks. An intensification of cold weather in Western Europe boosted Brent, the European benchmark (which hit US$118.79 on February 9) as demand for heating oil surged. WTI has been supported, too: positive US jobs data has contributed to a relatively upbeat outlook for the oil-importing US economy.
