Latest data releases show few signs of improvement in the Japanese economy as both expenditure and output indicators point to continued negative growth. Deflation remains a barrierto a much needed pick up in domestic demand, further underscoring the challenges that the new government -under Shinzo Abe's premiership-will face as it tries to boost growth in an economy where the public debt-to-GDP ratio stands at more than 200%.
