SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE LABOUR MARKETS

Significant Changes in the Labour Markets assess trends in consensus forecasts for wage variables and unemployment in six of the major economies surveyed. We also look at how wage and unemployment trends are shaping up for 2014. The outlook for the US job market has improved again this month, with the unemployment rate now forecast to average 7% in 2014. This is the level at which Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke suggested the central bank could ultimately halt its current pace of asset purchases.
