GDP growth rose by asolid 0.5% (q-o-q) in Q1, down on the rapid 1.6% (revised from 1.3%) pace in Q4 2015. Household consumption increased by 1.1% (q-o-q) and gross fixed investment by 2.1% in Q1, as growth prospered in most areas of the economy. Consumer spending is being fuelled by low interest rates and falling unemployment, while strong tax receipts are aiding government consumption. The GDP consensus has risen this month.
