GDP growth came in at 0.7% (q-o-q) in Q4 2016, matching the rate of growth of Q3. Overall, the economy expanded by 3.2% last year, equalling that of 2015. Observers anticipate a slightly softer performance this year as the pace of job creation slows and possible headwinds emerge from Brexit and elections in neighbouring European countries. Importantly, the unemployment rate fell again in Q4 to 18.6%, its lowest level for seven years.
