A SwFr42 billion aid package was agreed by the Swiss government in a comprehensive effort to cushion the economic blow from coronavirus. Intending to safeguard jobs, guarantee wages and support self-employed workers, the measures include a SwFr20bn fund of state-backed loans, which has alreadyseen high demand from under-fire businesses. The manufacturing and tourism sectors appear most exposed to the downturn, while pharmaceuticals (one of the biggest export markets) could benefit.
