Updated national accounts data implied that the economy's recent performance was worse than previously anticipated. In fact, back-to-back GDP contractions in Q3 and Q4 2018 meant that the economy briefly entered recession, while the Q1 2019 expansion was revised lower from 0.6% (q-o-q) to 0.4%. The 0.3% pace registered in Q2 showed weak development in domesticdemand and net trade. Investment in machinery fell -1.0% (q-o-q), meanwhile, as companies fret over the uncertain economic climate.
