While the latest consensus estimate indicates that GDP slowed by 2 percentage points in 2019, the jobless rate dropped to just 2.3%, from 2.5% in 2018, and exports rose 3.9% (y-o-y) and contributed to a record trade surplus, despite a gloomy international trade climate. Consumer confidence hardly changed in Q1 2020, though, reflecting households' concerns over their own financial situation.
