The economy registered a strong expansion of 2.3% last year, surpassing the 2.2% advance in 2018. Domestic demand led the way, propelled by a 6.2% rise in fixed investment amid high expenditure in the manufacturing and petroleum sectors. Still, growth tapered off in Q4, up just 0.2% (q-o-q) as consumption stalled. Output in the manufacturing and services sectors cooled, too, although our panel have retained a fairly positive outlook for 2020.
