In what has been perceived as a turbulent year for the global economy - due to trade and political concerns and an acute slump in European manufacturing production - economies including the US, Japan, France and UK are predicted to slow next year (see back page). Volatility has been particularly elevated in the UK due to Brexit deadlock, but the outcome of the general election on December 12 could either ease the uncertainty for businesses or create further gridlock.
