After expanding 0.5% (q-o-q) in Q1, Q2 GDP surprised to the downside with a contraction of -0.1%. Gross fixed investment and government consumption both fell, dragging down overall GDP despite a rebound in household consumption. Net exports contributed modestly, highlighting susceptibility to global trade jitters and weakening demand in the Euro zone.
