A common refrain among power providers is that power is generally overlooked by carriers in the planning and operation of their networks. The carriers, it seems, are more focused on subjects such as wireless data and coverage area. That, however, is the way it should be. In a perfect world, power will be transparent in network operation. If it's noticed, then something has gone wrong. "On the end user's level, it's the last priority until they don't have it," said Gene Johnson, regional account manager for American Power Conversion's DC Network Solutions division. "Then it goes from last to first."
