Composite metal decks (CMD) are now a common form of construction in the UK and in many other areas of the world. Approximately 1 million square metres are laid annually in the UK alone, providing a safe, economic and fast method of upper-floor construction.rnPropex Concrete Systems, provider of fibre reinforcement solutions for concrete in partnership with Corns Panels and Profiles, supplier of cladding and floor deck systems, have worked together to develop FibreFlor - a solution for the use of fibre-reinforced concrete in conjunction with the metal floor decking.rnCMD, as the name suggests, relies on the composite action between the metal decking and the structural steel frame. The metal decking provides not only the permanent formwork supporting the concrete but also acts compos-itely as the concrete hardens. Shear studs or shear connectors then tie the deck and concrete to the building framework, allowing the deck and concrete to act structurally.
