Record numbers attend Constructionarium at NCC

Record numbers of University students from across the UK and Europe are taking part in this year's award winning 'Constructionarium', hosted by the National Construction College (NCC). The initiative, which takes place between March and October, will provide more than 1000 university students with essential real-life experience of working on-site, helping to prepare them for industry, while helping to transform the civil engineering curriculum at undergraduate level. In May, nearly 80 students from Cambridge University and Westminster University worked in project teams of 20 people to construct scaled down models of real projects, under the watchful eye of representatives from Stephenson Construction and Ramboll UK. These included the Ravenspurn Oil Platform in the North Sea, Naples Airport Underground Station, the Barcelona Tower and the Millennium Galleries in Sheffield. There are currently 15 universities taking part in this year's Constructionarium, in addition to a number of students from Europe including Russia and Italy, and 27 industry partners now taking part.
