LANCASTER BUILDING UXBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

Uxbridge High School in the London Borough of Hillingdon commissioned ADP to undertake the initial phase of the school's masterplan under a traditional contract. Roger Fitzgerald of ADP reports. Now complete, Phase 1 provides the school with the environmentally conscious Lancaster Building, a brand new sixth form centre for 250 students. The new three-storey building also incorporates: a performing arts and activity studio on the ground floor; a mathematics area on the first floor; and a dedicated business suite and innovative learning zones in an open-plan environment on the third floor. Phase 1 met the 'Secure by Design' criteria for the building and sets an important precedent for Phase 2 in terms of design excellence and the high quality of works and spaces.
