ICE Specification for Piling and Embedded Retaining Walls

This is the long-standing guide to the specification of piling and embedded walling works, now in its third edition and first published 28 years ago as the ICE Specification for Piling. Most of the piling and embedded wall contracts in the UK use this specification, which is now adopted by Highways England and Network Rail. It reflects the latest piling techniques and procurement methods, incorporating revisions and new sections, in addition to revisions to British Standards, Eurocodes and CIRIA guides. The three-part style of the second edition has been retained, with a short Part A which outlines general requirements needed to procure a piling or retaining wall contract. Parts B and C cover specification requirements and guidance notes for different categories of piles and embedded walls, from driven precast concrete piles to steel sheet piles, and provide general requirements for concrete, mortar, structural grout and steel reinforcement. Testing, instrumentation, casings/coatings and support fluids are also discussed. Two appendices give examples of a project specification and a bill of quantities.
