摘要

A shear-strength model for concrete beams was developed based on the concrete compression zone failure mechanism. The shear strength of the compression zone was defined by a material failure criterion considering the effect of the compressive normal stress developed by flexural moment. The advantages of the proposed model are: 1. It is based on a firm and simple theoretical background; 2. It is applicable to various concrete members (non-PC or PC beams) and beams under concentrated or distributed loading conditions; and 3. It can be used as a unified shear and flexural design method because it addresses flexural moment equilibrium.
